Cocktail 101: Easy Cocktails From A Low-Stocked Bar
Over the past few years, I’ve been refining what cocktails I like and, correspondingly, what spirits (both in type and in brand) that I prefer. The goal is to have a well-stocked, quality bar—full of versatile ingredients—that allows me to make a variety of cocktails for entertaining and personal enjoyment. Some people like home brewing; I like home bartending.
I try to avoid uni-taskers in my kitchen, including the bar. Having a core group of items that can make a variety of cocktails to suit different tastes and moods is my goal.
All that to say, I wish I’d come across an article like this early on in the process. It probably would have saved me a lot of trial and error (and money!). Then again, sometimes the long way shows you more interesting scenery. I’ve certainly made and tried a far wider variety of cocktails by going it on my own.
But, if you’d like to have a few things on hand for entertaining or for a relaxing nightcap, this is a great place to start.
