An Open Letter To Jerry “Tycho” Holkins

To cushion what will be seen as a complaint, let me state: I love the strip. And I appreciate the power and glory of the writer/designer combo, being the copywriter half of many an ad team.

However, after reading Gabe’s report from PAX East (and as a fellow Man of the Word), I implore you to instruct Gabe in the use of the comma. Sure, there are times when he doesn’t set off his parentheticals and prepositionals. That’s fine. We can muddle our way through the rickety bones of his “Last year at PAX East Keith Apicary got kicked out…” sentence structures.

But in his hatred of grammar (all designers hate grammar, it comes with their first copy of Adobe Creative Suite), he created an entirely new human being when he stated, “…before we sent them to Paul Robert created…”
